Hipmunk, a company founded by travel nerds, revolutionizes flight search

Guest post by Hipmunk:

Hipmunk, inc. was founded with the goal of taking the agony out of flight search.

It started with an MIT undergrad who was wasting too much of his time search online for flights. Nevertheless, he learned enough tricks to become the resource for all of his friends and soon found himself searching for their tickets, too.

This simply wouldn’t scale.

So he started on Hipmunk, which is creating a lot of “a-ha” moments for jaded flight searchers trying it for the first time. With its combination of visual time sliders, all the relevant results listed on a single page, and the “agony” sort (don’t worry, it defaults to showing the least agonizing flights first), Hipmunk is miles apart from anything on the market.

Ultimately, we’re a company trying to solve a problem that’s agonized us — and apparently many other travelers — for far too long. Adam’s co-founder, Steve Huffman, previously co-founded reddit.com with me, Alexis Ohanian, who’s now Hipmunk’s marketing & PR department.

We’re all travel nerds, too, so we’ll be sharing any & all lessons we’ve learned along the way on our blog: http://blog.hipmunk.com
