LetMeGo named best Latin American startup
The results are in and the tallies counted for the ten startups in the finals of the #PS10 competition organized by PiolaPs10 and PulsoSocial on November 30th, 2009.
LetMeGo won the #PS10 competition for best Latin American startup. They also came away with new partners for their Portuguese version.
The Colombian Startup LetMeGo offers an innovation never before seen in the market for the hospitality industry within the web: travelers submit their itinerary and receive various offers for accommodation by hotels, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, hostels, etc.
The winners were selected by three judges: Diego Remus, Startupi’s editor, Luis Daniel Soto Maldonado , Senior Director of New Technologies at Microsoft for Latin American and Vanesa Kolodziej, previously with VC Mark Ventures, and former facilitator of the network Palermo Valley, among other roles; now a blogger at Right Brain Blog and looking for her next startup.
LetMeGo founder, Alex Torrenegra, a PhoCusWright enthusiast and attendee at the last PhoCusWright Conference in Orlando commented on the Latin America startup scene: “there is much talent and innovation, though the main obstacle of very limited venture capital going in the consumer web or technology sector remains. However, startup teams in Latin America have adjusted to this reality by making their operations very lean and efficient and in some cases, aiming for and achieving their break even points quicker.”
